David Walker moved from journalism into public management as managing director, public reporting at the Audit Commission and has had board roles at the Nuffield Trust, Places for People and the Economic & Social Research Council. He was Whitehall Correspondent of The Times and presenter of BBC Radio Four’s Analysis programme before joining the Guardian as editor of its Public magazine and network.
His books include Sources Close to the Prime Minister (with Peter Hennessy), Media Made in California (with Jeremy Tunstall) and The Lost Decade and Cameron’s Coup with Polly Toynbee. Their latest book together is The Only Way is Up, published in 2024.
