Alice Watkins is a qualified journalist who has worked in both print and broadcast newsrooms in the Midlands. Alice is passionate about highlighting injustice and amplifying marginalised or silenced voices, through online storytelling. In 2020, she joined the Hacked Off campaign, which works closely with victims of press abuse and advises all members of the public.
The campaign was established in 2011 in response to the phone hacking scandal. But over a decade since the revelations, most of Britain’s newspapers remain effectively unregulated. Today, Hacked Off is committed to building a better press which works for everyone, and campaigns for Leveson’s recommendations to be implemented in full – to protect ordinary people from cruel and unethical treatment by the press.
