In an illustrated talk that draws on over thirty years making films, Randall looks critically at documentary with its claims to have a tap root into actuality and asks, with digital manipulation, AI and celebrity domination how much that claim is undermined and how documentarists can still justify their claim to reflect reality.

Randall Wright has made more than 50 television and cinema films made in sub-Saharan Africa, in France and the occupied territories, Summer in the Forest, about a pioneer community of people with intellectual disability and biographical films of major cultural figures such as Maggi Hambling, Picasso, Lucian Freud, Doris Lessing, David Hockney, John Le Carre and recently subject, synth pop star Gary Numan.
